MASONIC COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE

The 22nd Annual Masonic Blood Drive continues the time-honored tradition of local Masons serving the public by strengthening community blood resources. Both the Masons and the public at large benefit in ways that save many lives.
In January 1990, a group of Masonic Lodges from Iredell and Catawba counties began a special effort to increase blood donations in the area. They chose the Christmas and New Year’s season for the drive due the decline in donations and the often critical need for blood during this period.
Over the past 21 years, the Masonic Blood Drive grew to be one of the largest annual blood drives in the Charlotte service area. In 2011, the Masons hope to collect more than 550 pints of life-saving blood.
The Masonic Community Blood Drive will be from 8 a.m.- 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at the Statesville Civic Center.
Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental permission) and be in general good health. Presenting donors will receive a thank-you gift from the American Red Cross and will be entered in a drawing to win Delta airline tickets. On-site daycare will be available. Donors may walk in or schedule an appointment online at www.redcrossblood.org.
